Equality California Said It Immediately Removed Him From the Board

On February 17, 2022, Equality California — which describes itself as the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization — posted a statement under the headline “Equality California Statement on Allegations Regarding Board Member.”

The statement, dated Los Angeles, for immediate release: “We learned of these allegations when they were released by a journalist on Twitter this afternoon, and we immediately removed Mr. Miles from the Equality California board of directors.”

The Independent reported the same act: he was “immediately” removed from the board after the allegations. That is the group’s own verb, printed by an outlet. It is a board decision. It is not a criminal finding and not a substitute for a docket.

This page does not reconstruct the allegations. The documented fact is the removal. The group said it acted the same afternoon it learned of the reports.

The board cut him the same afternoon the allegations hit Twitter. That is an organization protecting itself. It is not a verdict. Treating a press release as a conviction is how a file goes bad.
